4 Hours into our Chicago Trip and this is what we've done so far!

For the sake of full-disclosure, this trip to Chicago didn't start out to be a gluttonous adventure.  But when Lisa wanted a co-pilot as she chaperoned her teenage kids during Lolla weekend-it seemed like a fine opportunity to turn it into one!  So we made the minimum of plans, over-packed our bags and hopped on the train with 5 teenagers to Chicago!

The beautiful sky!  There is a 60% chance of rain all day today!  While I haven't felt a drop-the ominous clouds have made me worry a little.  Partially, because it means the kids will be returning early...or will they?  When we were in high school, did rain stop us from a good time?  Yeah, I didn't think so!

I took this photo from the train for Levi.  Yes, we are Bears fans.

My Instagram of the train tracks.  For those of you not familiar with Central Illinois-the train is the BEST way to get to the city.  Most train stations in Central Illinois allow for free parking as opposed to the $45/day fees hotels charge or other comparable daily rates for garages.  Round trip tickets are usually in the $60 range and with Union Station being located downtown-you're a $8 cab ride from most anything!

We stayed at Spring Hill Suites in River North and had a great View of Harry Carey's and the House of Blues!
Only 12 stories up!

Xoco, Rick Bayless' casual dining spot on Ontario, was equipped with a wood burning oven!  The smell in this place was killer!

The spread: Cochinita Pibil: Wood-roasted suckling pig with achiote, black beans, pickled onion, habanero salsa; Choriqueso: Homemade chorizo sausage, roasted poblano, artisan Jack cheese, tomatillo salsa; Guacamole with: bacon, pepitas, peppers, queso fresco, sundried tomato and grilled onion.
A close-up of the Choriqueso.

We had to stop by Trader Joe's for some snacks and wine!
Found these and holy cow!  They are my new favorite thing!

Getting ready to brag to all my friends about the forst few hours of the day!

Wish you were here!
