Weekly Letter: Working with Vulnerability

The word vulnerability has come up frequently over the last two weeks. And as I started to write this I began to notice my own vulnerability in discussing it. How many personal details do I need to share to connect with you? Really, none. My details might color yours making the experience about me and not you. Welcome to the Carmen Champion Vulnerability Tour, the price of admission isn’t worth the experience. Lol.

When observing vulnerability within a practice space, you don’t really need to let anyone in to what you are considering. Even in a room of people everyone’s practice is very much their own. For example, last weekend during an event, I had one person say they had a hard time focusing on the practice and another person say that was the first time they have ever been so focused in a practice. Two very different experiences in the exact same class.

The practice gives a person the space to be vulnerable with themselves. To have an experience of inquiry, to be open to asking questions, and then using those experiences to explore what’s next in their development as they evolve as a person.

You have already done some things to leave you open to this possibility, you wear clothes that are comfortable, you incorporate props to make the experience more connected or accessible. You adjust your space to be supportive, all things to allow for growth.

If you’ve taken any classes with us, you know we don’t do workout yoga. We do yoga with inquiry and exploration being the emphasis. We look to exercise open the locks inside so you can live more fully alive.
